Have you ever wondered – Why should I have a pull-out or built-in bread board in my kitchen?
These can offer several very practical uses.
1. It can offer more workspace during meal preparation, like chopping, dicing, cutting, kneading dough or other tasks.
2. It can hold plates, bowls or even small appliances to free up the countertop.
3. Wooden bread boards are meant to retain the heat of freshly cooked goods longer than a stone countertop.
4. Bread boards can be used to display baked goods or even as a decoration in your kitchen.
5. Believe it or not, the wooden bread boards, especially the ones made of hard maple, can even be more sanitary than
plastic or glass ones due to their natural antibacterial properties.
Many people ask, “How do I clean my bread board?”
1. Use hot soapy water.
2. Squeeze a ½ of a lemon on the bread board.
3. Sprinkle salt and baking soda on the board.
4. Scrub the board with the lemon half.
5. Rinse the board with white distilled vinegar.
6. Rinse the board again but with water.
7. Dry off the board well.
8. Rub food safe mineral oil into the board with a paper towel.
9. Let the board dry completely.
